TECON provided comprehensive detailed structural design services for the FAUZIA and ELETTRA offshore platform decks, commissioned by ENI S.p.A. and executed through client ROSETTI MARINO. These unmanned production platforms were specifically engineered to exploit the homonymous gas fields in the Adriatic Sea.
The project presented unique challenges in designing compact, efficient production facilities capable of operating in the demanding offshore environment of the Adriatic Sea. Both platforms required sophisticated engineering solutions to integrate processing equipment, well completion systems, and export infrastructure within limited deck space while maintaining structural integrity throughout all operational phases.
Project Scope
The FAUZIA and ELETTRA platforms represent state-of-the-art unmanned gas production facilities, each featuring a three-level deck configuration optimized for efficient gas processing and export operations. The platforms are designed for minimal manning with access provided through dual boat landing systems positioned on the south and east sides of each structure.
FAUZIA Platform Configuration
- Main Deck: 19.4m × 18.5m at elevation +21.3m LAT, housing primary production equipment and control systems
- Cellar Deck: 19.4m × 18.5m at elevation +16.1m LAT, containing wellhead equipment and separation systems
- Lower Deck: 18.0m × 17.0m at elevation +12.0m LAT, supporting utilities and auxiliary systems
- Well Configuration: Two 30-inch double completion wells plus one conductor spare for future development
- Export System: 12-inch export riser connecting to the existing Barbara B platform infrastructure
- Total Structure Weight: 675 metric tonnes including all equipment and structural steel
ELETTRA Platform Configuration
- Main Deck: 19.4m × 18.5m at elevation +22.9m LAT, featuring integrated process equipment layout
- Cellar Deck: 19.4m × 18.5m at elevation +17.4m LAT, incorporating gas/water separation technology
- Lower Deck: 18.0m × 17.0m at elevation +12.4m LAT, housing support systems and utilities
- Well Configuration: One 30-inch double completion well with dedicated gas/water separators per string
- Export System: 8-inch sea-line connection to existing Bonaccia platform for gas transmission
- Total Structure Weight: 565 metric tonnes optimized for efficient offshore installation
Pre-Production Innovation: To facilitate accelerated production schedules, well drilling operations were executed using modular Well Head Modules (6.0m × 6.0m) prior to final deck installation on the respective jacket structures. This phased approach minimized offshore construction time and reduced weather-related delays.
