TECON was commissioned by various clients to conduct comprehensive pre-feasibility studies for floating platform solutions designed to support typical 15 MW offshore wind turbine in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Mediterranean Sea presents unique challenges for floating offshore wind installations, including specific wave patterns, water depths, and environmental conditions that differ significantly from North Sea installations. The project required careful evaluation of multiple platform types, mooring systems, and construction methodologies to identify the optimal solution that balances technical performance, construction feasibility, and economic viability.
The comprehensive pre-feasibility analysis encompassed both screening and detailed analysis phases to determine the most suitable floating platform configurations for Mediterranean conditions. Our work focused on identifying critical design parameters, regulatory compliance requirements, and potential supply chain challenges that would impact project execution.
